Jointly Terms of Service
Effective date: May 29, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Jointly mobile application ("Jointly", "the app"), developed by NorthByte Labs ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using Jointly, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. The service
Jointly is a budgeting and money-planning tool that stores your data locally on your device. It has no user account and, by default, does not transmit your budget data to our servers.
2. Not financial advice
Jointly is a budgeting and planning tool only. It does not provide financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. Figures, reminders, and statuses are informational and may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for verifying balances, payment dates, and financial decisions with your bank or a qualified professional. See our Disclaimer for details.
3. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter.
- You are responsible for securing your device, your accounts, and any backup passphrase you create.
- If you lose your backup passphrase, your encrypted backups cannot be recovered.
- You are responsible for any files you choose to export or share to third-party services (for example, a cloud drive); those are governed by that provider's terms.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the app, including attempting to reverse engineer, disrupt, or use it in violation of applicable law.
5. Backups and data
Backups are user-initiated and encrypted with your passphrase before export. We do not receive your passphrase and cannot recover it. You can delete your local data at any time from within the app.
6. Intellectual property
Jointly, including its name, design, and software, is owned by NorthByte Labs. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, NorthByte Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app.
9. Changes to the app and these Terms
We may update the app and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or discontinue the app or features at any time.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local consumer-protection law applies.
