Summary

• Jointly is designed to work locally on your device.
• By default, Jointly does not upload your budget data to NorthByte Labs servers.
• Jointly has no in-app account and no cloud login.

Data we process

Jointly processes and stores the following data on your device:

• Budget data you enter (for example: bills, incomes, savings goals, spaces, people names/labels, categories, and amounts).
• Imported transaction data if you choose to import a bank CSV.
• Reminder preferences (if you enable reminders).
• Streak / usage tracking data used to power in-app streak features (stored locally).

Data we collect or share off your device

By default, Jointly does not transmit your budget data to NorthByte Labs servers.

Jointly may transmit data off your device only when you initiate an action that shares data, such as:

• Exporting or sharing an encrypted backup using your device's share sheet.
• Sharing a file to a third-party app or cloud provider that you choose (for example, Google Drive).

Backups

• Backups are user-initiated.
• Backups are encrypted before export using your passphrase.
• If you save a backup to a third-party service (for example, Google Drive), those files are governed by your account settings and that provider's policies.

Bank CSV imports

• Imported bank CSV transaction data is stored locally unless you export/share it.

Permissions and device features

Depending on what features you use, Jointly may request access to:

• Biometrics / device authentication (to unlock the app on-device).
• Files (to import/export backups or import a bank CSV you select).
• Notifications (to show reminders if you enable them).

Security

• Jointly stores data on-device using OS-backed secure storage where available.
• Encrypted backups are created using your passphrase; NorthByte Labs does not receive your passphrase.

Security responsibility

• You are responsible for protecting your device, Google account, and backup passphrase.
• If you lose your backup passphrase, encrypted backups cannot be recovered.

Data retention and deletion

• Your data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
• You can delete local data from within the app in Settings:
  • Delete Imported Bank Data
  • Clear Budget Data
  • Reset App / Onboarding
• If you exported/shared files (for example, to Google Drive), you must delete those files using that provider or destination you chose.

Children

Jointly is not directed to children and is intended for a general audience.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date above.
